If I could sit down with my younger self for a cup of coffee, I know exactly what I would say.
I wouldn’t talk about the mistakes, the hard days, or the moments when things didn’t go according to plan. Those are part of every journey. Instead, I would lean in and say something much simpler.
Don’t wait.
For years, I had a dream about starting a cats-only pet care business that kept quietly returning to me. It wasn’t complicated, and it wasn’t driven by chasing money or status. It was a simple idea built on something I loved deeply: cats.
I dreamed of creating a pet care service that focused exclusively on cats. Not dogs, not every animal under the sun — just cats. Anyone who has ever shared their home with a cat knows they are wonderfully unique creatures. They have different needs, different personalities, and they often feel more comfortable staying in their own environment than being boarded or surrounded by unfamiliar animals. I knew there was a better way to care for them.
But instead of pursuing that idea right away, I did what so many people do. I waited.
I told myself I needed more experience. More stability. The right time. I thought I should follow the traditional path first and circle back to my dream later. Life moved forward, responsibilities grew, and the dream quietly sat on the shelf for years.
If I could go back and talk to that younger version of myself, I would tell her something important: the perfect time rarely arrives. Waiting for everything to line up is one of the easiest ways to delay the things that matter most.
Dreams don’t disappear when you ignore them. They just stay with you, patiently waiting until you’re ready to listen.
Eventually, I did.
When I finally decided to build a cats-only pet care business, something I hadn’t expected happened. I realized all those years of turning the idea over had given me clarity. I understood exactly who I wanted to serve and why. Cat owners were looking for a service that truly understood their pets — one that respected their routines, their personalities, and their comfort in their own homes.
What started as a simple idea became something much bigger. I discovered that a lot of people felt the way I did. They loved cats. They wanted to build a meaningful business. And they were drawn to the idea of offering specialized care that made a real difference for pet owners in their own communities.
That’s when the vision expanded. Instead of building one local business, we built an opportunity for others to do the same. Through franchising, passionate cat lovers can start their own cats-only pet care service supported by a system that’s already been built and refined.
Right now, something is happening. The cats-only pet care movement is just beginning to gain real momentum. More cat owners are recognizing that their pets deserve specialized care. More entrepreneurs are seeing that focusing on a niche — especially one as passionate as cat lovers — can build something powerful and meaningful.
It feels like a train just starting to pull out of the station. The demand is growing, the opportunity is here, and the people who come aboard early get to help shape what this becomes: a community of owners who share the same passion for cats and the same desire to build something that matters in their own cities.
Looking back, I sometimes wish I had started sooner. But that thought comes with a realization worth more than the regret: it’s never too late to start.
Ideas that keep coming back to you are usually there for a reason. They’re pointing you toward something you’re meant to build, explore, or share. If you’ve ever dreamed of starting a business, doing meaningful work, or creating something of your own, my advice is simple.
Don’t wait as long as I did.
